THE NEED

Bringing Help and Hope
What happens when 1500+ volunteers, 100+ local organizations along with a determined school district partner together to catalyze change? A 100 year-old school building gets renovated and hope floods our city! From July 31-August 7, 2011, the people of Springfield rallied together around the clock to refurbish Harvard Park Elementary School’s 55,000 square foot facility. While the effort was championed by West Side Christian Church it took a team of thousands from around our city to make the effort a reality. Way to go, Springfield!
The Transformation of a School
Fresh paint, new furniture and artistic murals provided by the makeover make Harvard Park shine. Enhancements to the Gymnasium (Husky Arena), Cafeteria (Yale Street Cafe) and Annex (Fine Arts Center) a new level of vibrancy to the school. Additional school supplies and added storage space equip classrooms for optimal learning. Fresh landscaping and top-notch playground equipment communicate excellence as newcomers approach the building. Click here to view photo albums from Harvard Park’s Extreme School Makeover.
